it appears as if there's only one lab in town that still processes 120 film.
i dropped off a roll today that i can only assume has some stuff from houston on it.

mega book hunt tomorrow.

is it possible for things to be going nicely and horribly wrong all at the same time? cause that's sort of how i'm feeling about my current situation.

all i want for christmas...

i think my polaroid days might be over. at least for the foreseeable future. the only camera i have worth shooting with seems to have self-destructed today. "merry christmas, erin, i quit!" it seemed to say. yuck yuck double yuck. i'm going to try to fix it, but if it doesn't work i guess i'll have to wait until the rest of my cameras make their way home sometime next year to finish off my stash of film.

but hopefully i can figure out why it's giving me the finger.

better and better

i found out today that denver is getting an IKEA in 2009.

hell. freaking. yes.

why we're friends.

this girl makes me giggle a LOT.

from leah:

you do know those are their super-spy names, right? "fluffbot marshmallow to truckload vagina... crankypants is boarding the cloud... " which is spy talk to "mom, this is ingrid. quigley is taking a nap". right?

Friday, December 5, 2008

i made some custom magnets last night.
they are super gross :)

it's been a good day.
it snowed a lot. and it was really pretty and fluffy and soft snow. you could see each individual flake.
i got a free lunch at jimmy johns, too, which was unexpected and totally radical.
and a couple surprises in the mail, as well.
more interviews are scheduled.

but the best thing was hearing, "i would totally make love to our friendship."

we had a lot of snow today.

leah measured about 10 inches on her deck tonight, and my jeans are wet up to my knees.

recently viewed.

wonder boys : how on earth did i miss this one??? super great.

the boss of it all : silly and danish and has the girl from high fidelity, who is hilarious.

he was a quiet man : meh. i have a hard time watching christian slater in anything post 1990.

my new favorite movie is broken english. if you've seen it, and you know anything about me at all, you probably know why. it has been added to my shortlist of movies that i can watch a millions times without tiring of it. that being said, i watched it again last night. and my mom called at 6 this morning (forgetting the time difference), after which i couldn't get back to sleep. thus, my own version of the little rain cloud necklace was born around 7:30 this morning.

my favorite etsy version is here.

i'm currently waiting for the rental car place to pick me up, then i'm off to spend thanksgiving in northern kansas with my parents and grandma. i'm especially excited about:

sweet potatos
mashed potatos
home made rolls
(starch, anyone?)
5 cup salad (please be there. please please)
punkin pie
roaming around the tiniest town in america with my polaroid
crochet time
spending 3 days not worrying about how i'm going to pay my bills

hope you all have a great holiday! thank a native american for being alive!

more than anything in the world, all i want right now is a thai iced tea.

Friday, November 21, 2008

before 6am

printed so many resumes my printer ran out of ink.

as they say, i've got "the fear."
also, rent.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

oh, netflix.

netflix recommended a movie to me today solely based on my ratings of fantastic planet and alice. how could i not just go ahead and put it in my queue?

and apparently there is a remake of fantastic planet in the works? i don't quite understand why. it's hard to improve upon french speaking, naked, cartoon aliens. or whatever they are.

Friday, November 14, 2008

i finally watched pan's labyrinth tonight.
i still don't know how i feel about it.
too much gore for my taste.
and not enough fairy tale.
but whatever.

i started crocheting a huge blanket a few months ago, and then suddenly decided to stop. i'm not sure why. but i picked it back up tonight (it managed to keep my eyes busy while that poor fella had his nose bashed to smithereens) and i think i might be hooked (heh). maybe i'll actually finish it before next winter. maybe. if i can get through the end of the first skein...

it snowed like crazy today- which was a nice surprise since it hadn't been forecast at all. it was lovely. and bitterly cold.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

my mom is awesome.

"have i told you about my new dragon?"

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

a hilarious word from our favorite canadian.

also, more election humor from McSweeney's! (soooooo good)

happy girl.

i had thai today for the first time since i've been in colorado. it was better than i could have imagined. what's more, it was even good cold, for dinner. and that's something.

then we found a pretty incredible thrift store. leah and i each got polaroid cameras for under $4.

then i stood in line for 3 hours to vote. and it was worth every second (though i will readily admit how grateful i was for my ipod and bukowski).

it's 'roid week on flickr! perhaps the last ever? let's hope not.

cog.

so we spent my birthday weekend at 14,110 feet, 17˚F (10˚F wind chill), with 50 mph winds.

we took the train up to the pikes peak summit today. these are the only shots we took outside, looking down on colorado springs, and nearly all the way to kansas. it wasn't so much the thin air, cold air or wind that made us look like this. it was mostly the sand embedding itself in our skin. regardless, it was awesome.

Friday, October 24, 2008

today was sort of about hats.

look out, 'roid week. here we come.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

three great things.

1. it snowed this week! (and i only got one crappy picture, below)
2. my birthday is this weekend. and my sister's too!
3. 'roid week starts monday!!!!!

(greatness is directly related to the number of exclamation points needed)

i watched the movie snowcake last night. it was pretty great, too. so i guess four great things, not three.

movie night

the wind that shakes the barley.

three day weekends

pro: THREE days.
con: bank account.

bleh.

i have a whole heap of things to get done today, none of which i've had any intention of doing since i woke up. time to get to it, i suppose.

i think (and sort of hope) this is my last long weekend, so im going to try to take advantage of it. without, you know, spending any money. at all.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

warm coat day.

as per jessica's suggestion, i've started making a list of things that i'm not going to let myself fret over.

#1 being embarrassed.

(it covers a lot more than you might think: the downstairs neighbors hearing me jump rope, being more aggressive with strangers than i normally might be, hearing myself say "hook-on wieners" several times a day, taking stool samples to the vet, not being able to get my face to completely clear up, unintentional blushing, etc...)

one of my pendants made the front page of etsy tonight! yay!

Monday, October 6, 2008

leah and i went on a little road trip yesterday to deckers, co.
we have a love affair going on with bright yellow aspens.
fall is good here.
it's supposed to snow this weekend, i think.

Sunday, October 5, 2008

it is often that i have irrational romantic fantasies.
it is rare that i act on them.

tonight was about bold moves, regardless of outcome or consequence.
not sleeping.
rawrg.

plus side: 3 day weekends are nice.

she winked?

she winked! twice!

i'm sorry, lady, but that's ridiculous. and frankly, i find it a little insulting that she's continuing the "nucular" fiasco.

here's something.

Saturday, September 27, 2008

you can hear them bugling :)

awesome. also scary.

hot tub! pumpkin pie! canasta!

nate, leah, whitney and i went up to estes park yesterday.

we stayed in a fancy cabin.

we ate a lot of really good food.

we watched several herds of elk, and heard them bugle.

we stayed up late sitting in the hot tub.

we stayed up even later playing canasta and eating pie.

we slept in bunk beds.

we got up early (me: 5:30, nate and leah: 6:30, whitney: missed the whole thing) to sit in the hot tub again and watch the sun rise.

we took a bagillion photos (me: 166, leah: unknown)

we came home. reluctantly.

proof

:)

Thursday, September 18, 2008

i'm typing without using my left index finger. it's raw and bloody and quite sore. such is the life of makin' teeth, i suppose. ugh.

my big news for today is two fold (though neither of which are very newsworthy):

1. quigley and ingrid are sharing occupancy in the same room, sans hissing/growling. they even almost played together yesterday. almost. this also means that quigley has now decided to join us down on ground level, after over a week of sequestering herself on top of the kitchen cabinets.

2. this one involves ingrid and the litterbox, and is best left at that. let's just say it's very good news. for me, at least.

a few of my friends and i are planning a little weekend getaway in the next couple weeks to estes park. we found cabins with hot tubs + full on fall in some serious mountains + elk buggling = hell yes.

Saturday, September 13, 2008

clearly.

not to state the obvious or anything, but i think i moved at the right time...

(screen grab current to time of post)

as of midnight (MT), jeff, lola and stuart had no power, but were otherwise safe.

Friday, September 12, 2008

officially a coloradan

i got a new phone today. and a new phone number. a local one.
also, i registered to vote here.
i suppose all that's left is a new driver's license, but i'll be procrastinating a bit on that one.

ingrid and i went to the vet for a checkup today. all is well.
quigley still hates her, and has been on top of the kitchen cabinets for almost a week.

i bought bright blue sweatpants today.

tomorrow is canasta/twin peaks night, which are my favorites.

the 400 blows

so, young man, what are you gonna do while you skip school today?

oh, i dunno. probably steal a typewriter and run through a big flock of pigeons. i'll probably skip and be french a lot, too.

the 400 blows. GREAT movie.
it made me urgently need to find a photobooth for some reason. and you know what? i did!

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

just venting.

websites that require windows in order to use all or part of them (namely, my car and health insurance sites. different companies. also netflix.) are just itching for an ass kicking.

i mean, really.

a few ways i should try to be more like a goat.

"It lasts only a second, then the fainting goats bounce back on their feet and go about their goatly business - climbing boulders, chewing on clothing and flowers, begging for Honeycomb cereal treats, urinating on themselves to attract mates."

(from an article about fainting goats in the colorado springs gazette)
