i thought this was behind me.

we are under a tornado watch this morning. will someone please remind mister wind and rain that this is houston. my best guess is that the weather forecasters are overreacting a bit.

either way, i'm totally down for going back to bed.

so. on my way home tonight i very nearly ran into a man who appeared #1 homeless, and #2 to be trying to take a dump standing up. on the sidewalk. it was... certainly not something i expected to see today.

not that television had much going for it before, but WOW, it has gotten a hundred times worse since the strike.

so i decided to craigslist some of my old art supplies. things that have been sitting in one storage or another for the last 5 years. wish i could keep saying "i'll use them sometime," but i really just wont. plus, i could really use the space for current projects. hopefully i'll have it all sorted out and ready to go tomorrow. woo.

if anybody needs a 15 gallon tub of stained glass, well you just let me know.

i'm working on some new postcards, so that's fun.
and i think we're going skiing in colorado for jeff's spring break- the first week in march. hooray!

oh, and one more thing.

jeff's hard drive crashed today, thus leading to our third trip to the galleria in one month. yikes. i'd like to give a shout out to applecare. when you need a third backup plan they always come through.

i've been a busy bee today. got the window fixed, did some serious grocery and crafty shopping, worked on a few new projects, got some ideas for a few more, hauled out to the previously mentioned evil lair, etc etc.

it's cold today. and rainy. it almost feels like january.

we're getting up earlyish tomorrow to work on a secret project. i'm pretty excited about it.

oh, and boy gets his own link over there on the side, now, since he finally broke down and built himself a website. my favorite part, personally, is, "...developing systems and methods to analyze pooled DNA on massively parallel genotyping microarray platforms..." it confuses and delights me.

recently i've caught myself using a much stronger twang in my speech than i normally have. i have a tiny stroke when i hear it. and i've caught jeff noticing, though not mentioning, it. one more strike against the big h.

hm. so that's fun. they made off with a whopping 2 bucks in change. and that's it. the only thing of value i even had in my car was a rangefinder under the backseat, which they didn't find. or maybe they did find it and passed it over. either way i count myself pretty lucky that all i have to replace is a window.

what i did yesterday.

from my closet clean-out:
a couple pairs of pants, a shirt, some random scraps of fabric and felt and ta-da! i have a new bag that i'll be able to use for walking (strap is long enough for messenger bag) and it's roomy enough for my laptop. hooray!

before lunch.

all it really takes is the knowledge that a person other than jeff or i (in this case allen, the maintenance man) will be in the apartment for me to obsessively vacuum and tidy things up and make the bed. i've also been anticipating this afternoon all week cause i knew i'd have some free time to clean out the closets. i filled a fairly large tub full of shirts, skirts, jeans, sweaters... anything i haven't worn in a year. and while i know i should just go and drop it all off at goodwill, there are too many good fabrics and fancy buttons in the pile to say goodbye just yet.

i found a gray hair this morning. so much for inheriting my 90-year-old grandmothers naturally non-graying superpower head of hair. so it goes.

it's funny cause it's true.

i've eaten so much pad thai tonight i might just puke. jeff is mastering his thai cooking skills (and it's coming along quite nicely, i must say) and today was all about the pad thai. 3 times. 3 plates of pad thai. delicious, yes. filling, oh so much.

so. season 4 of the simpsons is great.

i put a bunch of new stuff on the website this weekend, in all categories :) i'm also working on a new bag (all purpose) and a laptop bag. from my progress so far, i think they might take a while.

i don't want it to seem like i'm constantly down on texas, because in reality it's not all bad. however, it is the only place i ever vowed to never live, pre jeff. there is a cult-like quality to it. like walmart. it's scary and weird.

tomorrow is jeff's first day of class this semester. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for at least a week.

it's nice to have a day off in the middle of the week. i'm still struggling with some sort of sickness- can't tell if it's just allergies run amok or if it's a real cold, but either way it totally sucks and it felt super to stay in bed until 11. we celebrated last night with a few friends from rice. kabobs and champagne and scattergories and wii. i finished up a roll of film that i'm (hopefully) getting ready to have developed.
