best. weekend. ever.
my sister keri came to visit, and we got all dressed up in fancy 1920's costumes, and laughed and laughed and laughed.

learned.
someone who gets up at 5 a.m. is never a pretty picture by 7 p.m.
that's me. that's me right now. look closely and you'll see me falling asleep in my clothes with half chewed pizza still in my mouth. well, okay, 20 minutes ago that's what you would've seen.
:)
my friend angel has been in town for the last few days cleaning up the gigantic mess that some douchebag made of his truck. the whole business kind of pisses me off, so i won't get into it. in any case, i took him to the airport this morning and he's off to start a new life just outside of san diego.

a rant. for fun.
i'm quitting my bank.
never in my life have i had as many problems with a very specific branch than in the last week and a half. and it sucks because up until this point i really liked my bank. it is an account i opened (and was perfectly content with) in houston, and i was surprised when i discovered that they had a branch here in colorado springs.... but then the one and only paycheck i tried to deposit (last monday) THEY LOST. luckily i was able to provide them with my original deposit slip 4 days later when i went back to find out why the money hadn't posted to my account. not only were they unapologetic, but they actually said, "we just don't know where it went..."
um. no.
it miraculously appeared the next day. along with $72 in overdraft fees.
again. no.
today i tried one last time to get it resolved, and ended up breaking out in hives from frustration. i'm pretty sure i had the crazy eyes, especially after being told to wait (which i did, quite patiently for 15 minutes) and then having the branch manager come out to tell me there was absolutely nothing she could do about it, but here's the customer service number.
i very nearly threw up on her out of pure rage. i stormed out, called the c.s. number and had the problem resolved in less than 5 minutes- and the girl on the phone was completely at a loss as to why the manager had refused to help me. so, i'm quitting. i've already opened an account at another bank (who gave me $50, by the way) and written several online reviews of this particularly bad branch. plus i contacted them directly with the name of the branch manager and why she came super close to having my insides all over her.
and now i tell you:
beware of COMPASS BANK.
they pretty much suck. at least in colorado.
the end.

i made a new friend on my run this morning. i first noticed it when i was about a block away. it looked like a kitty sitting in the middle of the road. as i got closer i decided there was no way someone would let a cat that big run around outside, so it must be a smallish dog. from the way it was sitting and the shape of its head i decided it was probably a small german shepherd or something. as i was passing it (i didn't have my glasses on, my eyes are terrible, so yes, as i was passing...) i was delighted to discover that it was a fox! bright red with little black feet... and he just sat there and watched me as i passed. i see fox (foxes? i never know.) in my neighborhood all the time, but they usually scamper away as soon as they realize they're not alone- but when i turned around to see if he was gone he had laid down, and his head was still turned around watching me.
if he's there tomorrow i'm naming him mr. wilder.

random things.
i prefer Karl to Carl.
my knee socks have been giving me this weird rash right where the elastic at the top sits for the last 3 or 4 days. it's unpleasant.
a trip to farm crest usually makes my day a bit better.

lazy bones.
some new favorites to add to my suggested movies:
something like happiness (there isn't much info on imdb, but it's available on netflix)
i've loved you so long
this particular version of peter and the wolf
and, i know this isn't a movie, but the greenzo episode in season 2 of 30 rock has to be my all time favorite 21 minutes in television history. greenzo, kenneth's party, AL GORE! it gets funnier every time i watch it. also, it's available for instant viewing on netflix. do it. do it now.
in other news, i'm now getting up at 6 every morning to run before work. i sort of dreaded this decision before putting it into action, but it's actually going really great. there's absolutely no traffic that early, and the weather is usually perfect- around 45˚. plus, then i'm actually awake when i get to work, and not still trying to get sleep goblins out of my eyes. the only downside thus far is making myself go to bed at 10... and i've been so tired that it's really not much of a problem anyway. at least twice this week i was out cold by 9:30.
