my mom, shortly after purchasing her first mac ever, "i feel like i just bought a cadillac."

i tend to get really sucked into books. especially lately, since i don't have a whole lot going on. i often find myself thinking far more about the goings-on in 19th century england rather than anything that actually pertains to my real life.
social structures
imprudent actions
petticoats, naturally.
it's weird. how things change.

what i know today
sugar free chocolate pudding still does the trick.
cubby holes are meant for curled up kittens.
a super mega clean bathroom cures pretty much everything.
carbonated apple juice tastes like expensive regular apple juice.
i need reassurance.

i finally have something good to say about houston.
as a lover/admirer/enthusiast of facial hair, it's nice to be in a place where handlebar mustaches are in no short supply.
i think we've decided not to move just yet. it was becoming stressful and frustrating and nearly impossible to find a place exactly like the one we already have just in a different neighborhood. maybe next year.

i was funnier, too.
so i've been internet lurking today. doing silly things to pass the time, like connecting my flickr account with my blog so that i can post pictures here from there.... and it turns out i've done this before with an older blog... turn back the time machine a few years, if you dare. i got sucked in reading about "mid-twenties erin" and lots of silly things i'd forgotten about, but am pretty glad i didn't delete. also, turns out my love of silly quotes is long standing.
it makes me miss leah a lot, cause she says the funniest things.
and it seems i didn't censor myself quite so much, which i'm not convinced is a bad thing.

the spring cleaning bug has finally hit me. the fact that we're moving again in a few weeks has sort of produced this feeling of "i am so not moving all this crap again," so here i am ready to get rid of almost everything. one thing i noticed tonight, which was kind of a great feeling, is that i dont have a stitch of clothing (at least in it's original form) from the "old life." it's nice to know that not only am i not that person anymore, i don't even dress like her.
here are some things i learned today that scare the crap out of me. first, there are over 500 tigers in houston living as pets.
TIGERS!
also, there are more pet tigers in the usa than wild tigers in the whole world. it hurts my heart.

i made chewy fudge brownies tonight. i really really wish they would hurry up and cool so i can shove my face into them. it made the apartment smell so good!
our a/c quit yesterday. i realize that some of you don't understand how big of a deal this is, but it's been 90 here this week. 90. and rainy, so freakin humid. ugh. luckily, the fix-it guys were super quick.
i bought some cheap books on my lunch break today, and i'm hoping they'll be much more cheerful than poor jude. got a couple more jane austen, and tom robbins' half asleep in frog pajamas.
also, jeff gave me his old ipod. i've never had an ipod before. this is pretty exciting for me, even though it's like twice the thickness and weight as his iphone. still. awesome.

so i started reading jude the obscure a few nights ago. talk about depressing. thomas hardy really had a flair for kicking them while they're down. hm. maybe it'll get better.
also, i find his overuse of the word "obscure" incredibly obnoxious. i mean, it's in the title. does it really need to be on every page as well?
same goes for the movie wondrous oblivion. not too shabby a film, but does the kid have to keep saying "wondrous oblivion?" i think not.
we watched the belgian film L'iceberg last night. it was... weird. i liked it. i think. maybe a smidge too quirky?
sorry. i'm a little cranky.
happy mother's day to all who are, want to be, or have been mothers. you make the rockin world go round.

things that make me laugh out loud, part 1 (unofficially)
touchy-feely. helen keller.
there's a story, and it's from a while ago. but just those two little phrases together send me into fits of laughter and memories.
i miss you guys.
unrelated: i've been posting gobs of new loot in the shop this week. daily, in fact. and there's still more, if you can believe it! more more!
i rode my bike to work every day this week. it's good. it shall continue. only one spot scares me, but i can handle it. and if i can't, well, that's why i wear a helmet.
jeff is home. yay.
