i made some bicycle cozies from the felt that leah just sent me (it's so pretty!), and managed to put the saddle basket on all by myself! the front basket didn't fit this bike, so i put it on the other one.

i'm making preparations to start biking to work. and i feel like a wuss. when i first started walking in september it was over 90 degrees both on the way there and on the way home, not to mention to >90% humidity pretty much all the time.

now, it's in the mid-80's and i can barely stand it. it's only april! i just keep thinking, "what on earth am i going to do over summer?!? i'll die!"

so. i bought a fancy schmancy super mega bike lock, and i'm on the hunt for a front basket to put on my little orange yet-to-be-named road bike. we even found a couple routes that will keep me off main roads for the most part. gonna test them out this weekend.

it's not like this plan is going to save me from the hellish heat, but it should cut the time down from 45 minutes to about 15. plus, you know, the bike breeze :)

also, i feel like a slug (or caterpillar at most) when i don't get any exercise, and i don't want that.

but i'm still terrified of getting my bike stolen. or getting hit by a car. so it goes.

today is the end of 'roid week :(
it was a good one, though.

p.s. the term "front basket" makes me giggle a lot cause it reminds me of hermes' "front butt" in the new(ish) futurama movie. "kiss my front butt!" it's classic.

it's 'roid week on flickr!

the lola is quite popular tonight. i couldn't quite believe she sat so still while i shot this. unless she's staring at an inanimate object 2 millimeters from her face, she's generally on the go. only seconds ago i heard her peep, scurry, and saw a flash of jeff go past the doorway. kids are having fun tonight.

imagine my heartbreak when, upon opening up the sonar one step i received in the mail today, i had to pull out an old cartridge of unused time zero. battery was dead. poor fella. i really almost cried.

today, i cleaned.

and believe it or not, this is the end result. ugh. i have too much stuff.i did manage to throw away a lot, and i fixed that white shelf thingy (it was sagging in the middle), and completely rearranged the area. so that's good.

the past few days have been this amazing whirlwind of etsy sales.

i bought 5 pairs of knee socks today. they were on clearance.

the rest of my afternoon will be dedicated to shrinky dinks, and perhaps dying a bunch of clothes that i can't wear anymore because the color pink kind of hurts my head.

the last disc of the last season of arrested development arrived today.

about a year ago jeff and i had this amazing idea to turn madonna's open your heart into something of a polaroid storyboard. we had it all planned out and it was going to be super cryptic and we were going to post it online and see if anyone could figure out what it was.

we never did it. i just remembered, and it made me laugh.

i should probably mention that jeff only knows the words to the song because it was covered by atom and his package. i'm guessing he doesn't want people thinking he listens to madonna. i suppose i don't want people thinking that either. poor madonna.

today is my grandma's 91st birthday. yesterday was jeff's 27th. the day before that was when i was really upset about my comics not being on the right pages and not knowing why. i hate april fools. almost as much as i hate zoo pictures.
